However, that 2-2 start came against arguably four of the worst teams in the NFL right now: The Panthers, Jets, Steelers and Falcons. They have a tough road to making playoffs, especially given the strength of their division and being without Deshaun Watson until December. The two teams both come into the game at 2-2, but they have vastly different expectations for the rest of the season.įor the Browns, two wins in their first four games represents a fairly decent start to the season. Justin Herbert and the Chargers head to Cleveland in Week 5 to take on Nick Chubb and the Browns. Cleveland's offense has more to brag about, as they they enter the game with seven rushing touchdowns, good for second best in the league. A pair of offensive stats to keep an eye on: The Chargers are stumbling into the matchup with the fewest rushing yards per game in the NFL, having accrued only 64.5 on average. Los Angeles' win brought them up to 2-2 while the Browns' loss pulled them down to an identical 2-2. If their 3-1 record against the spread is anything to go by, the prospects look good for bets placed on them. This next matchup is expected to be close, with Los Angeles going off at just a 2.5-point favorite. The losing side was boosted by RB Nick Chubb, who rushed for one TD and 118 yards on 19 carries. It was a hard-fought contest, but Cleveland had to settle for a 23-20 defeat against Atlanta. Meanwhile, it was all tied up 10-10 at halftime, but the Browns were not quite the Atlanta Falcons' equal in the second half when they met last week. It was a group effort with four guys contributing. Los Angeles' defense was a presence as well, as it got past Houston's offensive line to sack QB Davis Mills four times for a total loss of 31 yards. Los Angeles can attribute much of their success to RB Austin Ekeler, who punched in two rushing touchdowns in addition to snatching one receiving TD. The squad ran away with 27 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the win. Los Angeles had a touchdown and change to spare in a 34-24 win over the Houston Texans last week. If the game is anything like the Chargers' 47-42 victory from their previous meeting in October of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy. Los Angeles is on the road again on Sunday and plays against Cleveland at 1 p.m. The Los Angeles Chargers are 3-1 against the Cleveland Browns since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Sunday.
